Steven's association with Middlesex started in 2003 when he was among the first batch of inductees on to the Middlesex Academy, before going on to be the first Middlesex Academy player to play for the full England team in 2010.
He made his Middlesex first-class debut in 2005 at the age of 16 years and 43 days, making him the Club's youngest first-class player since Fred Titmus in 1949.
He was part of the Middlesex team that won both the T20 Cup in 2008 and the County Championship in 2016.
Steven played 126 games across formats for England and is Middlesex's most successful international bowler with 254 wickets. During his international playing career he won the Ashes three times in 2010/11, 2013 and 2015.
After 17 years as a professional cricketer at Middlesex, he moved to Sussex for the last two years of his career before knee and back injuries cut his career short at 34 years-of-age in 2023. He finished his career with 945 wickets in professional cricket.
His 17 years at Middlesex give him a deep understanding of the challenges posed by the logistics of playing for the Club and will bring a modern view point on the ways to tackle these, whilst also believing in the upholding of traditions that make the Club so special to play for.
Since 2019 he has been a regular on BBCs Test Match Special and TNT sports, providing analysis and insight in to the England cricket team's performances across all international formats.
