Shiv is a Barrister and partner at the city law firm, Fieldfisher.
His practice spans civil, regulatory and criminal spheres, and he has unique experience both as a trial and appellate advocate, a litigator in a boutique law firm and as in-house counsel. He acts for some of the most well-known companies and their leaders in relation to high-profile litigation, arbitration, regulatory enforcement actions, sensitive cross border internal investigations and the management of risk, including through the implementation and evolution of corporate compliance programmes.
His sectoral experience spans energy and natural resources, financial services, retail and consumer, transport and infrastructure, telecoms and sport. He has advised on matters relating to over twenty jurisdictions and have on-the-ground experience in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, North America and the Caribbean.
Shiv’s clients have included, FTSE100, CAC40 and Fortune 500 companies, Tier 1 banks, Formula One teams, luxury brands, private equity firms, CEOs, entrepreneurs, National Governing Bodies and nation-states.
He has a particular interest in the overlap between corporate culture, governance and risk and my unique legal, commercial and sectoral experience has led to instructions by quasi-public bodies to conduct wide-ranging and sensitive reviews, examining issues stemming from and relating to organisational culture, communication and leadership.
Shiv was previously elected to the Bar Council and served as a magistrate in North West London. He leads the Fieldfisher internal network for underrepresented ethnic groups, acts as mentor for the Social Mobility Foundation, has served as a governor of an OFSTED ‘outstanding’ rated school and is an ambassador for Young Enterprise. He also sits on the advisory board of one of Europe’s largest contemporary art fairs and serves as a trustee of Bat for a Chance (a charity that seeks to promote access and participation in Cricket). He is an investor in and advisor to a number of early stage businesses in the legal tech, F&B, healthcare and fashion industries.
Prior to his legal career he worked in Westminster for a former member of the Cabinet and was a founding Board Member of an organisation which seeks to improve ties between the UK and India. He is a member of the MCC and has represented the University of Cambridge, Stanmore Cricket Club and the Bar of England & Wales at cricket.
